Hardwood Flooring

When we carry out an installation, it is usually because your existing floor is not suitable for refinishing or because you are hoping to change the look of your home. But for whatever reason, we install all floors based on individual needs. We offer many styles of wood flooring, straight boards planks, which come in different sizes, widths and thicknesses.

Choose out of three types of floor installation:

Floating

This is a popular option because it is both stable and forgiving. It is not attached to the sub-floor and, once put down, will not creak. It is a quick and efficient installation method, and cost-effective (Engineered Wood Floor and Laminate Floor).

Nail down / Stapled down

This is a modern alternative to traditional techniques, and it's used mainly with engineered plank wood, strip wood or solid wood. Installation is quick and easy but it can be noisy when walked on. It is reasonably quick to lay and relatively expensive than the glue down installation, which requieres extensive subfloor concrete preparation (in regard to moisture barriers below grade level).

Glue down

This technique is used primarily with Engineered Wood Floors. It can be quieter to walk on than a stapled down installation, with less creaking with normal movement of floor (expansion and contraction). It's a stable floor, which sounds and feels solid. However, installation can be time-consuming, but less costly than Nail Down installation.

Hardwood Repair Services

Hardwood Floor Sanding and Refinishing

If your hardwood floors are showing a bit DULL or even if you just want to enhance your floor look and long lasting quality you can sand and refinish your floor. This is basically called sand and recoating. This is required when scratches, blemishes or stains reach up to your wood floor grains and recoating is not enough to hidden floor defects.

Two finishing coats are the most popular refinishing process in order to have your floor protected and get the best look from your wood pattern.

Three finishing coats are to provide special care as required, as usually recommended to enhance look and prevent your floor from scratches and small accidents. This is highly recommended for homes with kids, dogs or even high traffic in and out.

Wood Flooring Repair and Restoration

A hardwood floor is timeless and beautiful, eco-friendly and durable. However, it is sturdy, and will still suffer from inevitable wear and tear. Wood has many enemies such as dust, dirt and grime build-up, ink spills, chewing gum, scratches (from moving furniture around and high heels) and, of course, from chief culprit-water.

Floor Care

What You Should Do

  • Use recommended and Authorized Hardwood Cleaners.
  • Vacuum, sweep or dust mop your hardwood floor once a week, or more, if necessary. The vacuum head must be brush or felt.
  • Wipe up spills immediately.
  • Use interior and exterior doormats at entrances to collect dirt and moisture and prevent them from being tracked onto the floor, causing damages.
  • Area rugs are recommended in front of kitchen sinks, at all pivot points and within high traffic areas. The rugs must be made of a breathable material to prevent moisture entrapment.
  • Place runners and area rugs (with slip-resistant backings) along high traffic areas.
  • Keep animal nails trimmed to prevent scratches on the finishing.
  • To prevent surface damage, avoid rolling heavy appliances and furniture on the floor. Felt Pads is required for all the furniture.
  • Replace hard, narrow furniture rollers with wide rubber rollers.
  • Keep the relative humidity in your home between 34% and 57%.
  • Protect your floor from direct sunlight.
